Summer Professional Development Opportunity for Educators
The Writers’ Express (WEX) and Simmons College are proud to offer an exciting summer opportunity for educators.
Participants enroll in GEDUC 446: Differentiated Writing Instruction to Close the Achievement Gap and become a member of The Writers’ Express summer team.
General Informatiion
Participants will:
- Work with a remarkably diverse group of Boston area 5th-9th graders participating in WEX's summer writing and adventure program.
- Receive close supervision and daily feedback on teaching writing skills and strategies using The Writers' Express Method.
- Learn to create lessons that instill habits and teach skills to students with a wide range of abilities.
- Carefully assess students' writing abilities.
- Learn how to prioritize which skills to teach in order to help students progress with their writing.
- Engage with the students in activities such as rock climbing, mosaic design, salsa dancing, and ultimate frisbee.
Registered participants earn 4 graduate credits from Simmons College in Boston and qualify for a stipend from WEX.
