The Writers’ Express (WEX) and Simmons College are proud to offer an exciting summer opportunity for educators.

Participants enroll in GEDUC 446: Differentiated Writing Instruction to Close the Achievement Gap and become a member of The Writers’ Express summer team.

 

General Informatiion

Participants will:

  • Work with a remarkably diverse group of Boston area 5th-9th graders participating in WEX's summer writing and adventure program.
  • Receive close supervision and daily feedback on teaching writing skills and strategies using The Writers' Express Method.
  • Learn to create lessons that instill habits and teach skills to students with a wide range of abilities.
  • Carefully assess students' writing abilities.
  • Learn how to prioritize which skills to teach in order to help students progress with their writing.
  • Engage with the students in activities such as rock climbing, mosaic design, salsa dancing, and ultimate frisbee.

Registered participants earn 4 graduate credits from Simmons College in Boston and qualify for a stipend from WEX.
